My dear cousin. How I miss our phone chats. Eugene's kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.

I worked for Gene in the Brandeis English Department for many years, and have the utmost respect and fondness for him. He was such an inspiration to me, as well as a great friend. I had the privilege of typing his manuscripts (before computers took over) so had early access to his literary talents. When I retired from Brandeis in 2009, Gene came to my retirement party, which was very special to me.
My sincere condolences to Gene's family. May his memories be for a blessing.
