EUGENE SWEENEY Obituary
M.D., of Tenafly, NJ on October 21, 2015. Loving husband of Dianne (nee Card), beloved father of Edward and his wife Tina, Kevin and Sean and his wife Erin. Adored grandfather of Gabriel and Cira. A Navy veteran of the Vietnam Era, Eugene had a prominent dermatology practice beginning at New York Presbyterian Hospital, St. Luke's Medical Center and studies in Ireland, England and Germany. He was a Fellow of the Royal College of Medicine in Oxford and a member of the American Board of Dermatology and enjoyed a practice of 55 years which concluded at Metropolitan Dermatology. Visitation at the Barrett Funeral Home, 148 Dean Dr. Tenafly, NJ on Monday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass Tuesday 10am at Mt. Carmel RC Church, Tenafly. Interment Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Tenafly. I had the pleasure of calling on Dr Sweeney as a sales representative for many years and always enjoyed his welcoming demeanor and interesting stories. I will remember him as a class act!

As Chief of Dermatology at Englewood Hospital and a friend for over forty years I cherished the cheery friendship and camaraderie of Gene in all our dealings at Englewood especially in the early years of both of our careers when we met monthly at clinical conferences. He was a compassionate and very much concerned physician and I am sure must hsve been so with his patients as well. I will really miss his presence. My heartfelt sorrow to his family.

I was a Patien of Dr Sweeney. Always had a good visit at his office inn Teaneck. While he did his work we would talk of our service in Hom the Navy amd I in the Marines. Always was a very positive person . And just lately while passing his old office I wondered if he still was in practice . Then two days later with sadness I see the Obit

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
