EVA KANE Obituary

KANE--Eva Marie,

inspiration and widow of Robert P. Kane, renowned artist, died March 17, 2017. She is survived by her brother, Pierot Geshe of Belgium and cousins in the United States and the United Kingdom. She was truly a remarkable and courageous woman born in Germany in 1927. She endured years of sorrow; but also those of great joy. She was a true friend and confidant to many and will be sorely missed. A memorial with friends will be planned for the spring in her beloved Riverside Park.

Eva told of many remembrances of her times during WW II in Belgium - especially as a teen working for the Resistence.
During this time, she was also 'smuggled ' into art school where she first experienced her fine talent. In New York, Eva then developed this interest at the Art Students League, where she was a student of Will Barnet.
As a textile designer, Eva worked for Manes& Co, Lowenstein Textiles, and the Gloria Buce Studio. It should be remembered that Eva was a gifted designer and actively painted throughout her life.
