FRANK NEUWIRTH

FRANK NEUWIRTH Obituary

NEUWIRTH--Frank. Died at age 102 on December 1, 2025 in his home at Kendal on Hudson in Sleepy Hollow, NY, where he had lived for 20 years. His wife Marilyn, the love of his life for 63 years, died in 2019. Frank was born in Brooklyn on September 25, 1923, graduated from James Madison High School, and attended one year at Brooklyn College before being drafted into the army. He landed on Omaha Beach shortly after D-Day and fought with the 821st Tank Destroyer Battalion in France, Germany and Holland in support of the 29th infantry division. He wrote many powerful vignettes about his 10-plus months in combat and remained staunchly anti-war for the rest of his life. After the war, he graduated from City College of New York and Brooklyn Law School and had a long career as a partner with the theatrical accounting firm Pinto, Winokur and Pagano and its successors. He was a dedicated birdwatcher throughout his life and became a passionate lover of opera in his later years. Frank enjoyed his time at Kendal and he relished his self-appointed role as the community's caring curmudgeon. He will be deeply missed by his family: David Neuwirth and Hattie Myers, Robert Neuwirth and andrea haenggi, Henry Neuwirth and Anna Morrison, Eva Neuwirth, his two great-grandchildren, Miriam and Jane, and his cousin, Nancy Baliban.
