FRANK ROTHMAN Obituary

ROTHMAN--Frank.

The remains of Frank (May 24, 1930 - February 13, 2017) and Sheila E. Rothman (October 12, 1931 - August 18, 2010) were placed in the sea at New York Harbor on November 12, 2017. They lived in New York City, Westport, CT and Boynton Beach, FL during a 54 year marriage and are survived by two sons. Frank Rothman was born in Brooklyn, NY. A graduate of Erasmus Hall High School (1948) and Brooklyn College (1952). He also earned a master's degree and taught business at both City College and Quinnipiac College in Connecticut. He once worked as a vendor at Ebbets Field prior to a 40 year career in marketing research including positions at TWA, Young & Rubicam, The Hartford Insurance Group, General Electric and Kyocera. His work was published in the Journal of Marketing in 1964. Sheila Rothman was born Sheila E. Handshoe in the Bronx, NY. A graduate of Taft High School (1948) and Baruch College (1952), she also earned a master's degree. Sheila taught business at Brandeis High School on Manhattan's Upper West Side in the 1960's. She was also a comptroller and financial analyst for Goodwill Industries, Cablevision, Gateway Bank, and Moore-McCormack Lines. In the 1960's she helped a group of Upper West Side moms get Riverside Park's 76th Street Playground renovated. In the 1970's she was among the first women to enter Mory's, a tavern on the Yale University campus. Active in politics from 1970-2010, she held elected positions in the Democratic party in both Connecticut and Florida and attended the 1972 and 2004 Democratic National Conventions as an alternate delegate.
