The partners, attorneys and staff of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP mourn the loss of our friend and retired partner, Frank Gittes, who passed away on December 6, 2023 at the age of 76. Frank joined our New York M&A team in 1978 and remained with the firm for 41 years. Widely recognized as a leading dealmaker, he built enduring relationships his with clients. Frank weaved together his big personality, storytelling and humor to reduce tension and help resolve seemingly intractable issues in difficult situations. As head of our M&A practice, Frank helped cultivate the talent that drove Skadden to the top of the field. Frank majored in chemical engineering as an undergraduate at Lehigh University and graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he was an editor of The Georgetown Law Journal and later served on the board of visitors. Frank will be greatly missed.
