G. SHOSTACK Obituary

SHOSTACK--G. Lynn. Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons celebrates the life and mourns the passing of our friend Lynn Shostack. Her extraordinary compassion and spirit of inquiry made her an invaluable member of our community, where, together with her husband, Terry Moore, she served on our Board of Advisors, and the Advisory Council for our Center for Radiological Research. Her generosity, as a benefactor of the university, supported the innovative work of our faculty, as she brought the rigor and excellence of her success in business to science and medicine. We are grateful for her visionary partnership, which was marked by her passion for technology to further biomedical research and human health. Of note was her support of pioneering research into the use of far- UVC to safely eliminate airborne pathogens. Her extraordinary compassion, farsighted imagination, and spirit of discovery also allowed Columbia to expand the Cryo-Electron Microscopy Imaging Program and the Neurological Imaging Research Center; and enhance our Division of Cardiology, where she established the David A. Gardner Professorship, in memory of her late husband. Lynn will be missed and we offer our condolences to Terry and to Lynn's extended family. P. Roy Vagelos, Chair, Board of Advisors, Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University Katrina Armstrong, MD, Executive Vice President for Health and Biomedical Sciences and Dean of the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University Lee Goldman, MD, Dean Emeritus, Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University
