Gabriel Massimi

MASSIMI-Gabriel, passed away peacefully in Tucson, AZ on the 22nd of April. Gabriel was born in 1927 in Yonkers, New York. He left high school to join the US Navy in World War II, serving aboard the USS Baltimore. After graduating from Syracuse University in 1951, he married fellow graduate Kathryn Mather and began a career in advertising in New York. His career as a copywriter and creative director of advertising agencies took him from New York to London, where he founded the successful Boase Massimi Pollitt advertising agency, and to Milan and Rome, Italy to write for film and TV. In 1975 he moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he became creative director of McDonald & Little then creative director and co-owner of Burton-Campbell. In his long career Gabe won numerous awards for advertising creativity and was honored by the Wall Street Journal as one of the industry's creative leaders. He is survived by his son Michael Massimi and Michael's wife Christine of Tucson, Arizona, his daughter Andrea Burroughs, her husband Steve and her son Andrew of Powder Springs, Georgia, and his sister, Bernice Rohdes of New Jersey. Memorial Mass will be offered Friday May 2, 2014 at 9:30am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1375 South Camino Seco in Tucson, Arizona.
