Dr Heinrich was a great person and outstanding leader. While working with him on Admissions and Administration for the 7yr BSMD Program he consistently demonstrated his true commitment to excellence in Patient care and DEI. A person of very high standards he never compromised his integrity.My husband and I are very grateful for his leadership. We send our sincere condolences to his wife , children and entire family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

January 26th 1995....I received that 10pm call from Dean Heinrich and a kind words of acceptance that established my future. He was a wonderful man and will be missed by so many!

So saddened to hear of the news about Dean Heinrich. He was a true gentleman, dedicated physician and consummate professional in all phases of his life. He is synonymous with New Jersey Medical School. He was the Dean of Admissions when both my wife and I went to NJ Med and I will never forget him calling my daughter a couple years ago to tell her that she had been accepted.
Condolences to the Heinrich family and NJMS community- he will be missed but has helped build a quality medical training program in our state. God bless!

I was deeply saddened to learn of Dr. George Heinrich's passing. As the former Academic Advisor /Counselor of the Health Careers Program at Montclair State University, having retired January 2021, Dr. Heinrich was always so helpful and very supportive of our Eight Year BS/MD Program with the Medical School. Many, many , many thanks to George for making it possible for a large number of highly motivated and academically competitive students of color realizing their career goal of becoming successful physicians!!!!!!!!!

Truly so so saddened to hear this news. I will never forget the day (October 31st, 1995) when Dr. Heinrich called me to tell me I was accepted to medical school. I thought I was being pranked and told him I didn't believe it was true. We kept in touch for the past 30 years and laughed many times about that phone call. Truly an incredible mentor, physician, and human being. What an honor to have known him all of these years. Always willing to lend an ear and a hand. We will miss you so much Dr. Heinrich. Deeply saddened to hear this news! Dr. Heinrich was a true mentor. Like so many others, I still remember the exact moment when he called me to congratulate me on my acceptance to NJMS! Gives me goosebumps to this day! I was also fortunate enough to have Dr. Heinrich lead our "Humanism in Medicine" class! That was a true privilege! I learned so much from him! May his soul find eternal peace!

Condolences to the Heinrich family. Dean Heinrich was an incredible man - he always called every admitted student to NJMS. He even handed me my envelope in person. He made a mark on every NJMS student and so is touching thousands of patients every day through the hands of his students. May his memory be a blessing to all.

I met Dr Heinrich again at my 25th medical school reunion, 30 years after he interviewed me for medical school. He remembered my full name and recalled my interview giving me a compliment before I even had a chance to say hello. He was unique and just made the world a better place. I will never forget him.

It´s difficult to put into words what Dr. Heinrich meant to me. More than a leader in medicine, he was a mentor and a kind soul who always made time for others. In some of my most uncertain moments, he offered guidance, encouragement, and steady belief, even when I doubted myself. He reminded me of the power of humility, grace, and purpose. We´ve lost a brilliant mind and a compassionate heart, but his legacy lives on in the lives he touched, including mine. Rest in peace, Dr. Heinrich. Thank you for everything. You will never be forgotten.

I was so fortunate to meet Dr. Heinrich. He was gracious, humble, and kind from the moment we met. He was also a wonderful champion of humanism in healthcare and friend of The Arnold P. I would like to say that when I first met George he had a glow around him that Drew people to him like flies to a fire. We became good I've known him for over 17 years and let me tell you he was a proud man but a gentle and kind person. He cared more about people than anything else. I will greatly miss him. I didn't get the privilege to know Dr. Heinrich for very long, but the few interactions I've had with him left me feeling that he genuinely cared about student success and was happy to support us in any way that he could. He will definitely be missed.

Dr. Heinrich was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of New York Hospital/New York Presbyterian Hospital Queens for more than a decade. He was an exceptional leader, who was dedicated to, and responsible for, the provision of patient care of the highest quality. The consummate gentleman, he was respected greatly by the Trustees, medical staff and administrators alike. Condolences to his loving wife Debra and their sons.

His passion for healthcare is inspiring. It has been truly an honor and pleasure working with him, and with the support from New Jersey Health Foundation. My husband graduated from the MD PhD program at NJMS. We've always appreciated his support professionally and personally. Dr. Debra and Dr. George Heinrich warmly welcomed the arrival of our baby. Their encouragement meant so much to us as we were establishing our career as physician and scientist with a newborn. He is and will be sorely missed in our family. Dr. Heinrich was a generous and supportive colleague to the health professions advising community. During my tenure as Director of HPA at Villanova Univeraity I had the privilege of working with him regarding applicant admissions and in programming for the annual Philadelphia regional LAN meeting which connected advisors with admissions professionals. George was just the best person! He always supported what we premed advisors did and came to our meetings whenever he could! He was also so loved by his former students, they all remembered his personal call when they were admitted to NJ Med. And I would call him and let him know every time I met a doctor who´d graduated from NJ Med and he would be delighted to hear how well his former students were doing as practicing physicians. George even took the time to speak with my son when he was applying to medical school and congratulated me when I told him he had matched. I will miss being able to reach out to him for advice and for support. A great man, a wonderful educator, and a phenomenal judge of character!

I spent many office hours with Dr. Heinrich during my journey of getting accepted to NJMS. When I did get accepted at the 11th hour, unable to stop crying during his phone call, his office was my first stop. Dr. Heinrich honored me with the scholarship in his father's name in 2004-5. He saw something in me that took me a long time to see in myself. He will be remembered always, indeed the picture of him hooding me at graduation has been on my desk for the last 15 years. Thanks to his family for sharing him with us and may you be comforted in your grief.

We will always be grateful to Dr. Heinrich for all the mentoring he did to our son Shrikant Nayak for almost 2-3 years without which Shrikant wouldn't be motivated and get into NJMS. His personal acceptance call made to Shrikant and talking to us during that call was one of the best calls we received in our lifetimes. We also know he did this for countless many medical school aspirants at NJMS over the past many years.
Dr Heinrich's passion to get the right students to NJMS and the personalized attention to the process was unparalleled.

I first met George when we were in medical school. Years later, we served together on the alumni board. Whenever an issue came up that needed a measured, thoughtful, compassionate response, George was the person we turned to every time. He was a leader of healers and a "mench" in every way.

George served the Child Health Institute, part of Rutgers RWJ Medical School, since the Institute´s founding in the `90. Dr. Heinrich served with energy, intelligence, and wisdom. He attended a Board meeting just two days before his passing, leaving us all shocked and saddened. Speaking personally and for CHINJ, we will miss his thoughtful guiding hand.
