Actually, I have a few memories of George. He was responsible for getting me my start to perform in the coffeehouse circuit.
He cast me in his self-penned play 'The Witch' as the mayor.
We met numerous times to chat and write together. He was a dear and honest friend.

Hard to believe it's been seven years. I fondly remember his wit and sense of humor, his funny ways of emphasizing certain words, his thirst for knowledge, and how he included me in some of his endeavors such as sitting in on recording sessions for his album at the RCA studios, playing a part in the recording of one of his plays "Gladius", and attending various gigs he played at clubs in The Village and elsewhere. It was always a treat when would make the rare excursion out of Manhattan to visit my mom in Brooklyn and we'd wander the old neighborhood where he once lived before moving to Utica, and reminisce about growing up there. George, forever in our memories...

I am remembering George, my brother in law, on this seventh anniversary of his passing as I do so frequently, with fondness in my recollections of his wit and humor, his inquisitiveness, creativity, his devotion to his sister and the awesome depths of his interests and talents. George's love of life and all things living was immense. George always wanted to contribute to the arts and sciences and to be remembered as part of things bigger than himself, yet my memories of him will always foremost be of his humanity and the light and love he carried within himself and shared with everyone around him. I miss him. My wife and I would welcome any direct recollections of George at the following email: [email protected].

Does anyone remember George's album with RCA records, Time To Wonder Why?
Favorite tracks: Wake Up Your Mind, Candle River, Time To Wonder Why.
I enjoyed his company very much. He even wrote a play called 'The Witch'. I had a role of the town sheriff. What times we had together. He was a very friendly and sociable guy. I can't believe he's gone. Damn good artist, too!!!

Moving some books around in my house the other day, I happen to pick up Instant Genius given to me by George many years ago. George was a frequent customer at my store in Gramercy NYC. He would come in every day get cigarettes and we chatted for few minutes about on philosophical and scientific topics.
RIP friend.
I placed George's book in the center of my book shelf (hope to read it one day :) )
George was a Renaissance Man.

I knew George back in the seventies.
I was just thunking of him, and decided to see if I could locate him, after losing touch for many years. I am so sorry to see that he passed away. We did some creative works together. In fact, George was instrumental in helping me secure a job performing in a cafe for a week or so. He spoke to the owner, I auditioned and was hired. I never forgot him.
he was a very special person.
My sympathies to his family.

I learned to love many musical artists because of spending time at your house on Conkling, and yours was the first concert I ever attended. you played a mean guitar and was destined to be one of the brightest stars. With your wry sense of humor, and your tremendous wit, your laughter will always remain in my memory…you are gone but will never be forgotten! Love, Cousin Aimes

Dear Jane,
I met George back in early nineties. George use to come my Magazine Store on 3rd and 30th to purchase magazines and cigars. We would talk about different topics for few minutes whenever George would come over. George also gave me signed copies of his books.
Last month while going through my books I found his book ""Instant Genius" and brought it and placed it on my coffee table. For some reason I was wondering how George it doing, so I decided to Google. I am sadden to learn of is passing away. George was a gentle soul. I miss talking to him.......
RIP friend.

George was my French lab instructor at St. Bona's long ago. There were several 'channels' of French lessons we were required to listen to, but I discovered another channel of bluegrass or folk music that George was playing in the lab to entertain himself. I switched to that channel. George may have introduced me to Don Johnston or vice versa. Great days, good memories of George. RIP.

I knew George for nearly 40 years and for those years knowing him was an adventure. His intensity, his sense of humor, his Bible, his music, writing, painting, his math and science skills, his hair--I marveled and admired all of him.
He was an impatient soul and he would confess to that and we would laugh. I left the East several years ago, but I did not lose touch with George. He would send me prints of his paintings, and each new issue of the Feast. I loved his Valentine's Day calls, his birthday calls, his "hello" calls.
George condensed more into his life than any man I've known. He was the Renaissance Man. He always signed with a heart. It was an appropriate symbol. I am so grateful to have been his friend and will miss him deeply.

I am deeply affected by this unfortunate turn of events, and wish to extend my sincere, good wishes to George's family, and all that knew him. George was a genuine, but fierce independent in an environment of unbelievable challenges where most simply pay lip-service to such a courageous position as an individual must assume in life and work. George will be sorely missed on this side of the fence.
I include an image, authored by myself, that George would always recall as one of his favorites.

Dear Jane, What a beautiful Obituary for your brother George. He had many memorable accomplishments in his short life. I know you will miss him and that he will always be in your thoughts. Fondly, Martie Lombard

We called him GK. I met him in Manhattan in the early 70s through DJ (Don Johnston) another old buddy of George. We became friends, shared many good times, talked about a variety of subjects, and laughed a great deal. I remember that GK would practically be paralyzed by laughter, slowly bending from his waist as he held in his laugh until it would burst forth in a paroxysm of coughing, tears and wheezing. He had a great sense of humor. We stayed in touch after MJ and I left NYC in late 1974. GK was a loving friend, a thoughtful man, a sensitive artist, and a tireless writer, painter, composer, and thinker. He always called on our birthdays, Fathers Day, Mothers Day and such, just to say hello. He was a very devoted pal and I will miss him dearly.

George and I attended both Blessed Sacrament and then Notre Dame High School. George showed great potential in high school. He was a very kind and easy going person and it looks like he lived his life that way. May he rest in peace.
