George McFadden

McFADDEN--George. Beloved husband of Carol, beloved father of Lisa Melas, Wilhelmina McFadden, and Alexander McFadden, beloved stepfather of Piers and Georgiana Moreton. Adored grandfather of Leon and Pavlos Melas. He died in a plane crash, in the Toledo Bend Reservoir, Texas, at 4pm, April 22nd. He was 67. He was the son of Alexander Bloomfield McFadden and Josephine Cutting Blair. He attended Greenvale School, St. Paul's School, Vanderbilt University and Columbia Business School. He was the Chairman of McFadden Bros. LLC. and had a long career in venture capital. Original, witty, generous, an exceptional sportsman, Mr. McFadden was a Governor of Deepdale Country Club, Trustee of the St Andrew's Dune Church in Southampton, of St. Paul's School, and a Director of the Squaw Valley Ski Corporation. Tradition loving, family oriented, and erudite, he will be lovingly remembered. He is survived by his sister Mary McFadden and brother John McFadden, by his half brothers Watson Blair and Wolcott Blair, his stepfather, Watson K. Blair, his former wife Lesley Taylor, and by his many loving cousins. The Funeral Service is to be held on May 8th at 3pm, St. Thomas's Church, 1 W. 53rd St. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to St. Andrews Dune Church, Southampton, or The Alexander B. McFadden Memorial Scholarship, at St. Paul's School, Concord, New Hampshire.
