The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation mourns the passing of our dear friend and benefactor Gerry Lennard. The Board, staff, volunteers, and donors wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to our fellow SWCRF Board Member, Gerry's son-in-law Lewis Rubin and his wife Wendy and his daughters; Donna, Stacey and Jennifer and the the entire Lennard family on their significant loss. Gerry was not only a mentor top me dueling my years at Gerald Metal, but he was a true friend both socially and personally,but as we soon realize life is to short and to say Gerry was a good friend is not enough. Life is such that we find ourselves to busy to keep up with old friends and the distance between us grows and grows. I therefore call onGerry to once again be my Mentor and through his passing teach me to be a better person and help me keep in touch not only with family but those who we have called friend and have slipped into our past To you Dona, Wendy, Stacey and Jennifer Susan and I send our heart felt condolences,and hope our path will cross in the near future.

Mr. Lennard wore many hats in my family's life; father, grandpa, financial advisor, best of all, he was a dearest friend forever!

Gerry was a true friend and mentor to me and my family throughout our many years of knowing each other going back to the early 70's. Among the very top leaders in the metals industry it was truly a privilege and especial experience to have worked and "earned your stripes" under such a dedicated and learned leader in his field. Tough but compassionate. demanding but always with a purpose in mind, Gerry truly imparted to me the essentials to make it through the truly difficult times that confronted me throughout my career. His loyalty and friendship to me Helen throughout the years is something that we shall treasure forever. Unfortunately, I am presently undergoing cancer treatment and my strength is not such that will permit me to come into New York for his services. Our thoughts, prayers, and many, many fond memories shall be with all of his family and friends throughout the services today and tomorrow. May God bestow his blessings on my dearest friend Gerry and his family.

I also work at Gerald Metals and am in my 28th year of employ. Gerry hired me in 1991. He mentored me for many years.
I am extremely grateful in having met this man and worked with him for many years. He taught us well. Please accept my sympathies. He will be in my prayers.....

My sympathies to the family. I had the pleasure of working with Gerry at Gerald Metals and when 9/11 occurred he encouraged people to donate and said he would match dollar for dollar for every donation made to a 9/11 charity and when a colleague was dying of cancer he paid him in full until he died. His widow said it changed her life allowing her to make proper financial arrangements prior to his passing. This was the Gerry I knew.
