GERALD YASS Obituary

YASS--Gerald (Jerry), 94 years old of Boca Raton, Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 6, 2024. Jerry lived a long and happy life starting in New York. He married his childhood sweetheart, Sybil, in 1951, and together they raised two children, Carole and Jeffrey. After graduating from Long Island University, he began his career as a CPA. He served in the Army of the United States from 1951 to 1953. He later became the CEO of Datatab, Inc. He went on to help his son start Susquehanna International Group, LLC, where he worked until his death. Jerry was known as the toastmaster at all company functions. He was beloved by everyone at SIG. Jerry's infectious positivity made him a dear friend to everyone he met. For the past 20 years he lived in Florida with his loving companion, Helen Moftich, where he enjoyed dining at the clubhouse, playing golf and poker, and writing odes. Jerry was predeceased by his wife, Sybil, and siblings Leonard Yass and Blossom Lasowttz. In addition to Carole, Jeffrey (Janine) he leaves behind five grandchildren and a great- granddaughter, his sister-in- law, Raye Yass and countless adoring nieces and nephews he loved to spoil and support. The Yass family will be ever grateful to Jerry's loving aides, who attended to him in his final months. Donations in memory of Jerry can be made to either The PAP CORPS of Boca Raton or UJAFederation of South Palm Beach County.
