GIDEON GARTNER Obituary

GARTNER--Gideon I. Gideon I. Gartner passed away peacefully in his New York City home from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. An entrepreneur best known as founder of publicly traded companies Gartner, Soundview, and Giga, Mr. Gartner was as a tremendous music lover and proud alumnus of Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Sloan School, BS and MS programs respectively. He was an avid supporter of Aspen Music Festival, Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, Opera Orchestra of New York, Richard Tucker Music Foundation, National Jazz Museum of Harlem, and New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players, CLAL - The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership, and countless others. He is survived by his wife, Sarah; his children, Perry (Inga Kapouler), Sabrina, and Aleba (Phil Kline); stepson Aaron Sylvan (Janet Sylvan); granddaughters Clementine Kline and Ellie Sylvan; brother Don (Donelle), nieces and nephews and so many others. The world is diminished for the loss of his inspiring business courage, his incisive insights, his passionate musical and visual aesthetics, and above all his enduring kindness. Memorial contributions can be made to ICAN School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in support of the Alzheimer's research of Dr. Sam Gandy.
