GILBERT GREENWAY Obituary
Christian "Gibby" III, age 41, died on March 10, 2018, at his home in Ketchum, Idaho. His father Gilbert C. Greenway Jr. predeceased him. Survivors include his mother, Nancy Randolph Greenway, sister, Elizabeth Greenway "Betsy" Carney, brother-in-law, Brian Carney, beloved nieces and nephew, Laudie, James, and Grace Carney, all of Richmond, VA; godchildren and a host of dear aunts, uncles, and cousins; extended family and many treasured friends far and wide. Gibby was also known as singer- songwriter Trey Green with his band The Hang. He was a gentleman, an outdoorsman and a man of great strength of heart, mind and body. He was a pilot with his instrument and seaplane ratings, earned his MBA, self-built two homes, recorded three albums and traveled the world. Gibby had a vast capacity for fun and was loved by all. He will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held at 1pm, Saturday, March 24, at Christ Church, Greenwich, CT. Memorial contributions may be forwarded to Phillips Academy Andover, www.andover.edu YMCA Camp Manitowish, Boulder Junction WI, www.manito-wish.org or a charity of choice.

What can you say about somebody that brings so much life and light to others? Gib will be missed in our family and we will think of him often and have nothing but great memories of him. A big heart and even greater compassion for others. We love you Gib!

Dear Nancy (and Betsy),
We were all distraught to learn of Gibby's death. We all remember him with so much fondness and love. Even Doug, our youngest, said to Ross and Scott, that Gibby was one of the only one of their friends who was unfailingly nice to him. He had a sweetness about him--and I remember him--and you--so well. I know the pain of losing a child--there is no recovery from that on a fundamental level--but I am so glad that he grew into such an impressive, multi-talented, and remarkable young man. So many life experiences at such a young age. But, we feel such grief at your losing him at such a young age. I send you my love, Nancy--and my thoughts and hope that time will bring you some measure of relief and gratitude as you remember all the wonderful things about Gibby--and how lucky we all were to have known him--and for you and Betsy to have had him with you for all those magical years. Nancy and I are beyond words to describe how this has hit us and the rest of the family.I will always cherish the weekend he came to Canada for Tim's fortieth birthday and we took over from the band and rocked the night away.What a great memory and such a wonderful person.

Nancy & Betsy:
A bright light has left us to early. Gibby did so many things and accomplished much in his short life. So many memories of being together at Lyford Cay, visits with our Lisa and Tim and each time some new accomplishment, a new project, a new adventure. Memories sustain us all and who can forget that smile? RIP Gibby!
