Gina Chang Obituary

Gina Chang passed away at the young age of 26 on September 24, 2017. She graduated from Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles in 2009, received her BS from Northwestern University in 2013, and graduated with an MPH from Yale University School of Public Health in 2015.

Beloved daughter and friend, Gina was talented and gifted in many ways. She started ballet at the age of 3, was an accomplished flautist and violinist throughout her years in primary and secondary school, and a National Merit Scholarship finalist winner. She was diligent in school and out. She graduated with a distinction from the Harvard Westlake Cum Laude Honor Society. After graduation she went on to Northwestern University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Psychology, and Global Health Studies. She graduated as a member of the Northwestern Honor Society. After her four years at Northwestern, Gina went on to receive her Masters in Public Health from Yale and then continued her education, becoming an MD candidate at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Throughout her years in high school, college, graduate school, and medical school Gina always gave her spare time to volunteer to various organizations in the community. Most recently she served as the Project Director of ECHO Free Clinic, which she loved and cherished so dearly. She served in various leadership, volunteer and research positions every where she went. These experiences served to shape her goals and dreams of becoming a great physician someday.

Gina was a lover of life; in particular she loved her family and friends, fashion, fluffy things, books, playing the flute, volunteering her time and talents to those in need, sushi, and all creatures big and small. Gina will most be remembered by her hard-working spirit, generous and selfless heart, and compassion toward those in need.

Although Gina left our lives too soon and too quickly, we will always hold her spirit and love in our hearts. We have been blessed to have known sweet, beautiful Gina. She is survived by her parents, Kichul and Daya Chang.

To the family of Gina Chang
I wish to extend my sincere condolences to you during this very sad time. I did not know your daughter but after reading her biography it is obvious that she was a unique and special person. There are no words that can make the pain and grief you must be feeling during this difficult time any easier to bear but as several of the other entries in the memory book have pointed out that the Bible holds out hope and comfort to all those who experience loss. The scriptures tell us of a time when death, pain, tears and sadness will be done away with and these difficult days you are living now will be a thing of the past. In the meantime all the beautiful memories and accomplishments of your daughters life will remain with you to comfort you in this time of great sadness. I am so sorry for your loss.

My condolence to the family and friends of Gina Chang, may the God of all comfort be with you during this sad sad time, loosing a loved one in death is never easy the pain, the grief and the feeling of helplessness can seem unbearable, the death of a loved one is never easy no matter what is the cause, so I just want to share with you some comforting scriptures that can really help during this difficult time Psalm 56:8 king David said " do put my tears in your skin bottle then he asked are they not recorded in your book? It shows us that God cares for each and every one of us and he remembers every tear that we shed no matter what is the cause, and not only does he cares but he had made provision for every one to have the opportunity to live in a paradise new world, a world where sickness and death will be no more. 1 Corinthians 15:26 says God has a yearning to conquer death forever remember the words of Jesus and what he did Jesus cured every sort I'd disease and every sort of infirmity Matthew 9:35 . May you find some measure of comfort in these words .

His son,Jesus, sad"all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". John 5:28,29. Our dead loved ones are in God's memory and one day he will resurrect them to a paradise Earth. Psalms 37:9,10,11,29. Job 14:13-15 says he has a yearning to d so. Isn't that comfort to know? Revelation 21:3,4 says that one day on this Earth death will be no more, neither will pain or mourning be any more.

I have never met you but my heart breaks for you. You had such a beautiful soul. It is a true pity that I had never gotten to interact with you in college. Gina, wherever you are, I hope you are at peace and happy.
