AMANDA POSNER Obituary

POSNER--Dr. Amanda. Dr. Amanda Posner, a beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and pediatrician, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2025 in Westport, CT, surrounded by her closest friends and family. She was 43. Amanda grew up in Scarsdale, NY, and graduated from Dartmouth College in 2004 with a B.A. in Religion and Theater. She earned an M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2012, and completed her pediatrics residency at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in 2015, touching countless young lives with her skill, compassion, and warmth. Amanda's brilliance, kindness, and humor left a mark on those who met her outside of her medical practice, inspiring everyone to be more joyful, generous, and authentic. She was an extraordinarily talented performer, having acted and sung in productions at Dartmouth College and with the Bard Hall Players at Columbia University after appearing off-Broadway as a teenager and acting in the films Welcome to the Dollhouse and The Door in the Floor. Diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer at 33, Amanda defied her illness for more than a decade, living fully and serving as a shining example to friends and family. She later joined the Board of Directors for the Bay Area Young Survivors (BAYS) in California and the Norfield Children's Center in Connecticut. In 2016, Amanda married Ben Neumann, and their greatest joy came in 2019 with the birth of their son, Andrew, who was - and will always be - the true love of Amanda's life. Amanda is survived by her husband Ben, her son Andrew, her parents Dr. Amy Newburger and Dr. Lawrence Posner of Westport, CT, and her brother Dr. Russell Posner and his wife Dr. Melissa Posner of Darien, CT. A celebration of Amanda's life will be held Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Norfield Church in Weston, CT at 1pm. To honor Amanda's lasting impact, her family is establishing an Endowed Professorship in the Division of General Pediatrics at UCSF.

I knew Amanda in college, and met her when we studied abroad in Scotland for a term. She was absolutely without guile or pretense, and ready for any adventure. We were not close after that term, but I remember her as warm and funny. My son is not much older than Andrew, and my heart aches to think of him growing up without his mother. Sending warmth and light to her family

Praying for your family in this time of sadness and loss. So sorry to have missed the service in Weston very near to my parish of St. Francis. We had just gotten back from Rome and the canonization of Carlo Acutis. I will pray for his intercession on behalf of beautiful soul of Amanda and for God's eternal peace to descend on her son and entire family.
