HARVEY SCHILLER Obituary

SCHILLER--Harvey M, 90 passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 16, beloved by his wife of 61 years Martha Berstein Schiller, who helped run their business the Schiller Printery, by his daughter Kathi, his son Robert, his grandchildren Zak, Mina, and Sahm, brother Roland, and daughter-in-law Niloufar Gidfar. He was a decorated veteran of WW II, and was awarded the Bronze Star. Revered as generous, committed, compassionate, he remained active after his retirement in local community organizations: his synagogue, Rotary Club, environmental groups, and taught ecology to the local elementary school, while continuing his passion for painting. He will be greatly missed by his friends, family, and community. Contributions can be made in honor of Harvey Schiller for a tree planting fund to the Friends of Rye Brook, Attn: Treasurer, 938 King St, Rye Brook, NY 10573.

oddly, I just started making Martha's cabbage soup an hour ago, giving up on it being May and and still NOT spring, when I got an email from Andrea who had just read abt Harvey's passing in he NYT. I will always remember him with affection and always have a visual of him getting every last crumb off the counter. Love and hugs to Martha, Kathi and Robert xoxoxo Debra Simon
