HENRY GOODMAN Obituary

GOODMAN--Henry Lewis, passed away at age 91 on Friday, August 4, 2023 at his home in Jupiter, FL. Henry was born in New York City on March 28, 1932 to Alexander Goodman and Gertrude (Schwartzman) Goodman. His sister, Harriet Benjamin, is deceased. Henry graduated Harvard Law School in 1956 and went on to a distinguished career as a prominent creditors' rights attorney at his law firm Zalkin, Rodin and Goodman, representing bank groups and senior lenders in notable bankruptcy cases including Drexel Burnham Lambert, the Placid Oil, and Colt Manufacturing. For many years Henry was Senior Outside Counsel to Chemical Bank (now JP Morgan Chase). In 1981, Henry represented James Hassatt, the court appointed chapter 11 trustee in OPM Leasing, which became one of the largest fraud cases to have filed for bankruptcy at that time. Presided over by Judge R. Burton Lifland, OPM Leasing was one of the first precedent setting large cases to file under the Bankruptcy Reform Act of 1978, which ushered in the modern Bankruptcy Code. Henry was a Fellow at the American College of Bankruptcy. Henry is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joan, his two children, Peter Goodman (Amanda) and Debra Glassman (Charles), his grandchildren Rebecca Glassman Moskowitz (Ari) and Daniel Glassman (Melissa), and Rachel and Michaela Goodman, as well as five great-grandchildren.

Worked for Mr. Goodman at Zalkin Rodin & Goodman for 15 years as his receptionist. He referred to me as Penelope, instead of Penny , even though that isn´t my name. Have a lot of wonderful memories working there. May he rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing.
