Dear Family of Henry Sandbank.
I am about to reprint a 600 page book on photographers. first published in 2020. In it I have used the image of the frames half submerged in milk. In one of the frames is the reflection of a woman in a pink and white floral dress. From memory back in 1992, Henry said this was his daughter 'Laura'. Could one of the family please verify this. My email is [email protected]

To the Sandbank Family,
I can't tell you enough what a privilege it was to have known and worked with Henry. He taught me to do things the right way.The years we worked up Hawthorne are still some of the best times of my career and will always hold a special memory. Although we didn't keep in close contact over the past years, I've always considered Henry as a friend and I will keep the memory of Henry with me.

Hi Sandbank Family.
My condolences. I don't know what to say. I did know Henry just a bit. But that what he shared with me, still hits me everytime I think about him. For me he was a rolemodel of someone with the strong believe in a greater future. Knowing the history from where he came from and how he succeeded in what what he did, is and always will be the American dream come true! An inspiring personality that will always be remembered.

Kenny, Laura,
My condolences. I didn't spend that much time with your dad in the day, but he was always friendly and charming. The work he had up on the walls established a very high baseline for what I thought contemporary photography could do. Being in the image side of the ad business, that influence lives on. My best to both of you.

Henry was the best. A meticulous craftsman, a brilliant thinker and an incredible creative problem-solver. He loved to work and he loved to laugh, and I am so very fortunate to have done both with him all those years ago. Henry, may you rest in peace. And to Judy and the rest of Henry's family, my sincerest condolences.

What a great man. I remember the wonderful studio in the woods (well, to a NY'er like me it was really rustic). Henry the perfectionist having perfect control of the environment and all of us around him:) I also remember one of the family's dogs...Henry warned us, "Whatever you do, don't say s-q-u-i-r-r-e-l". Of course we did. Dog went berserk. Much love, and my condolences to the Sandbank family.

so sorry to hear about henry. he was a giant in our field. when i look back at the ads he created & collaborated on i had forgotten how much of the iconic work at that period he had been involved in. i remember laura telling me that while riding with her father in the car leaving the city he would pick out people and say there's one! there's another one! laura would say 'another one what'? henry said- you can always tell photo assistants by the way they dress!
i must have been one of those he recognized.
my condolences to the Sandbank families,

To the Sandbank Family, I first hired Henry on an American Gas commercial when I had just arrived here in the States from England. Henry was one of the finest Directors and problem solvers I have ever worked with. And a true gent.
I told him I used to summer in Sandbanks England as a boy and here loved those stories. We worked over the years and he always delivered the finest work. The entire industry has lost a visionary and a dear friend.

Dear Judy and family,
I am very sorry that I was not able to attend the services this morning. I have not been feeling very well lately.
I have so many wonderful memories of Henry, fom exercising together at SUNY,where he always beat me at squash, to traveling with Henry and Judy to Italy, Greece, and England. I have a marvelous photo which he took at a lunch we were having in Sicily, the first time I met my cousins there. Judy is also in the photo sitting at the table. I have a few photos I took which came out beautifully because the world's best photographer assisted me. My son Francis played maverick football in Greenwich and I have an album of photos Henry took of Fran playing. Every memory I have of this great man is a happy one. I will never forget his kindness to me, his patience, his humor and our trips together. The world has lost a treasure, and he will be sorely missed by anyone who ever knew him.

So very, very sorry to learn of the passing of this lovely man. I worked with Henry several times – once, oddly enough, in a mine shaft in Idaho. A consummate professional and a true gentleman.
