HENRY G. STIFEL

STIFEL--Henry (Hank). The Board of Directors and staff of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation express sadness at the loss of our founder, Henry G. Stifel. In 1982, Hank's only son suffered a devastating spinal cord injury and he and his wife Charlotte and their family and friends began the Stifel Paralysis Research Foundation. It grew into a national movement and several mergers later, became the Reeve Foundation. Hank served as its Chairman Emeritus until 2007. He was a pioneer at a time when spinal cord research was virtually nonexistent. Now, more than 30 years later, because of his vision and passion, the spinal cord community is on the cusp of effective therapies. We will remember Hank's wisdom, his wicked sense of humor and contagious smile, and his legacy will serve as inspiration for the Foundation. Our thoughts are with Charlotte and her family and in particular, Henry G. Stifel III, Vice Chairman of the Reeve board.
