HERSHEL SARBIN Obituary

SARBIN--Hershel. A Harvard-trained lawyer who found his true calling in media and marketing, passed away at his home in New York on October 12. He was 96. He was president of Ziff-Davis, then executive vice president of the Ziff Corporation in the 1970s and 1980s; CEO of Cowles Business Media in the 1990s; and a senior director of media for the Peppers-Rogers Group until 2002. He co-authored "Golf after 50: A Different Game," and devoted his time to consulting, writing, and nonprofit work as a board member of Children's Rights, Inc.; as founder of Child Advocacy 360; and as an advisor for Something Good in the World. Hershel Benjamin Sarbin was born December 30, 1924, in Massillon, Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Western Reserve University in 1946, after which he served in the U.S. Army in 1946 and 1947 before receiving a juris doctor degree from Harvard in 1950. "This was his legacy: Combine boundless curiosity with a big heart and irrepressible energy and you can do almost anything." He is survived by his wife, Susan, and children Penny, Richard and Barbara.
