Hildegard Esterházy Obituary

1943 - 2016
Countess Hildegard Szilvia Juliet Esterházy of New York City died on August 29, 2016 of natural causes in her Manhattan home. She was 73.

She was born on April 12, 1943 in Landschütz, Austria to Count Károly Esterházy and Hildegard Esterházy nee Petrech. Raised in Hungary and educated in Europe, she then emigrated to the United States, where she developed a successful career as a designer of textiles used in the fashion, furniture and décor industries. She additionally developed her talent as an artist, producing numerous oil paintings. Her brother, Count Charles Esterházy, predeceased her.

She is survived by her aunt, Countess Elvira Esterházy, a cousin, Alexander Evans, both of Manhattan, and a cousin, Eva Evans of Stamford, Connecticut.

A memorial service will be held on October 3, 2016 at 10:30am at the Redden Funeral Home, 325 West 14th Street (www.reddenfuneralhome.net). Contributions of flowers welcomed.
