I am not sure why but today I just thought of my pediatrician, Dr. Behroozi, and decided to search him up on Google to see if there was anything there related to him. That is when I discovered that he passed away in 2020. He was my first doctor when I migrated to the United States. I did not even know English at that time but he made me feel very comfortable. My father/ mother would take my brother and I to these appts and he would take his time. I remember him as being a nice and caring person. He was always so sweet and soft- spoken. After I graduated to adult primary care, since we lived in the same neighborhood, sometimes I would see him on Avenue A as he loved walking from the hospital to his home. I would always stop him and we would catch up. RIP. Until next time!

Me and my brother and my family is deeply sad reading this news last night.
We extend our condolences to Dr Behroozi’s family and Maryam.
We got to know Doctor Behroozi when me and my brother moved as his Neighbours in the building.
Dr. Behroozi was always smiling and full of life and always asking about me and my brother wellness.
He reminded me always of my grandfather back in my home country.
Very self sufficient man and very humble and down to earth.
We have had chats about how he came to this country and his life. Based on our conversations he deeply loved his parents, brothers and wife. He loved being a doctor and helping families.
I had the opportunity to meet his very sweet extended family in New York once and he always invited me and my brother to events.
I remember my first conversation with him , he told me telling me that my name sounded similar to a Persian word Pahlavi. I remember his birthday and asked wanted my brother to slide a birthday card under his door :(
He is and will be missed and no words can describe the pain.
May god bless his soul.
Regards,
Pallavi / Vinayak

Dr Behroozi was an incredible person. He loved to dance and party and most of all he loved to eat all kinds of foods. Words can't express our great loss in Pediatrics @ Gouvernuer. I had the pleasure of working alongside him for 20 years. He was so soft spoken and understanding he never got upset under any circumstances. He loved his patients so much and went above and beyond for them. Personally, he cared for my children deeply, always asking about their well being. My kids always appreciated their conversations and things he said. He will always be in Our Hearts and he will never be forgotten. God bless him always, Love Robles/Pou family.

Dr. Hooshang, my dearest cousin,
Once, when he and his mother (my aunt) had come to visit me during my student days in Daytona Beach, we went to a night club for dinner called Hawaiian Inn.
He danced all night, called a few times to the stage, and preformed like Hawaiian dancer so beautifully that he was asked to go on the stage over and over.
He was warm-hearted, kind, and a source of energy every room he walked into. For years when I would go back to Hawaiian Inn, I would be asked about him.
How sad that this absolute ray of sunshine is no longer with us.
May god bless his soul.

To laugh often and love much;
to win the respect of intelligent persons
and the affection of children;
to earn the approbation of honest critics
and to endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty;
to find the best in others;
to give of one's self;
to leave the world a little better,
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch,
or a redeemed social condition;
to have played and laughed with enthusiasm
and sung with exultation;
to know that even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived,
this is to have succeeded.

I met Hooshang through his niece Mitra. Our family was lucky to be invited into their home and included in their family.
Celebrating holidays with all the Behroozi's was always big, warm, caring and loving with lots of delicious Persian food. Hooshang was the uncle we all loved - always asking how we were, always making time to listen, always kind, accepting and encouraging.
As our family grew he included all the new members in his thoughts asking about anyone who couldn't make it to an event, telling me to send his love.
We loved him and his old world elegance.
We send our love to Maryam and all the Behroozi's and their partners.

Dr Behroozi was a dear friend and mentor. It is with great sadness that I heard about the passing of this most elegant colleague. I have known him since 1983 when I began working at Gouverneur. He was always welcoming and encouraging from the beginning to me and everyone else. His patients were so grateful for the warmth, encouragement and expertise he brought to every encounter. We were blessed to know him for so long and his legacy will live on in his grateful clients and Gouverneur family. His kind and generous spirit will be remembered with great fondness by his co workers as well as his patients, all of whom loved him dearly. May his family be comforted knowing how much he was loved by all.

You were one of the kindest persons I have ever met in my lifetime. We met in Pediatrics when I was a hospital Photographer. I enjoyed so many of our conversations about children, sociology, healthcare , education and politics. You were my neighbor as well. How many times did we stop to speak on Avenue A as you walked all the way to Gouverneur from Stuyvasant town. Without fail no matter how deep, our conversations would end on a lighter tone and even a laugh. You spoke with people as it they were all part of your family. That part of you and what your were was your gift to me. I will forever be the better for it.

Speaking of dear Dr. Behroozi brings sweet fond memories to me. I met Dr. Behroozi when I first started working at Gouverneur Hospital at the age of 18 in 1972 as his clerk. He was the Director of Pediatrics. Our clinic was very busy as everyone wanted to see him because of his kindness and manner towards all, and although he was Director he always saw his patients. He was caring and always available to all. Though the years he never changed his ways towards his patients or myself and family. Before I became a nurse he always encouraged me to return to school that I could do better and I took his advise. We always kept in touch through all the many ,many years. In 2000 I got transferred back to the Pediatric clinic and was his Head Nurse till my retirement in 2016. There is no other way to describe my friend and the fine person that he was, he was always dedicated even volunteering after he retired he was an endless caring spirit. I will always hold a special place in my heart for Dr. Behroozi my friend. Lydia Zavala-Ramos

When I first met Dr Behroozi in 1983 he was warm & welcoming-& that never changed in the 32 years that I was blessed to work with him. In 1983 many of the pediatricians at Gouv were not open to PNP's but this was not the case with Dr Behroozi. He was the first to say that if I needed anything his door was always open. He was there for me when all 3 of my boys were born and was supportive when my son was diagnosed with cancer. He and that son shared a birthday & he never forgot that! He always checked on how he was doing. I learned so much from him about pediatrics. I learned that caring for kids involved more than blood tests and exams. He taught by example. Dr Behroozi listened to his patients, showed he cared, was warm and friendly, & always kept up to date. His love of pediatrics was evident every day. Dr Behroozi was a true gentleman and his beautiful smile will be missed. I send my deepest sympathy to his family. Sending much love
