HOWARD BECKERMAN Obituary

BECKERMAN--Howard, loving father of Mara Sneiderman (Richard), Sheri Weisz (Gaston), and Amy Zarndt (John); adored grandfather of Danielle and Jeffrey Weisz, Shayna Brubaker (Thomas), Naomi Sneiderman, and Jamie Zarndt; and great-grandfather of Everett Brubaker, died June 29, 2024 after a brief illness. Howard was an animator, director, teacher, historian, and author who was loved and admired by many. Donations to the ACLU or The School of Visual Arts in New York City in his memory are appreciated.

I was great sadness that I heard of Howard´s passing today. I was one of hundreds of young students who had the benefit of having Howard as an instructor at SVA.
I also had the privilege of being invited to intern at his and Iris´s studio on 45th St. during my senior year. Besides practical training, Howard would give me advice on getting a start in what was then a very unstable industry.
From time to time I would Google him, and I was thinking this morning I haven´t checked up on him in a while.
I found out just today he of his recent passing.
I had always wanted to send him a note but never knew what to say...
He was a friend to me, just as I know he was to many aspiring young animators!
R.I.P. Howard.
