On several occasions, I had the pleasure of riding with Mr. Pack to Emisphere board meetings in NYC. I was touched by many of his words... always talking about business, economics, history, and some good old-fashioned common sense. He was a gentleman with a kind spirit and a sharp wit. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Pack family.

I have the fondest memories of Howard and his family, having spent many happy weekends with them at their home Peekamoos ,many years ago. His wit and keen intelligence always delighted me.
Coincidentally my husband of the past 15 years, Karl von Frieling, who had been a director of the German shipyard, HDW Shipbuilders, had a fleeting acquaintence with Howard, when they re-engineered a number of the Seatrain ships in Hamburg. Karl remembers him as being an astute and very ethical business man.
Our sincerest condolences go out to Howard's family.
With kind regards,
Patricia Warburg Cliff & Karl von Frieling.

Mr. Pack was a tremendous example of working heartily and loving what you do. I worked for a few years at Emisphere Technologies and always enjoyed chatting with him. On a recent visit there I ran into him as he was coming in from the parking lot, and as ever, seeing him made my visit complete. I am thankful to have known him, and his life will remain a reminder to me to keep moving ahead. My heartfelt prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
