IRVING CANTOR Obituary

CANTOR--Irving.

Born May 10, 1920 in New York, Irving discovered bird watching early and spent the next 90 years exploring every corner of the city identifying birds by sight and sound. He earned a degree in business at CCNY, served four years in the US Army, then became a certified public accountant and skilled investment manager. In 1967 he met Jean Warburton his future wife, birding at Jamaica Bay. They shared a love of nature as participants on bird trips and members of the Linnaean Society. Irving served for twenty years as Treasurer of the American Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (ASPNI), providing generous support to the Israeli birding community. Irving was known for his intelligence and humor. He is survived by wife, Jean, sister Bernice Haber, nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 23 at 11:00am at the Crestwood Funeral Home, 199 Bleecker St. Donations in his memory can be made to ASPNI, 28 Arrandale Ave, Great Neck, NY 11024.
