I have been searching for the words to describe how shocked and dismayed I am about the loss of this fine physician, passionate teacher and indefatigable supporter of house officers (trainees in medicine). James was a force of nature. Others have mentioned the giant iced coffee with which he started each day. Like a juggernaut, he powered through the day stopping only to help someone he came across. James could stop any argument simply by his presence. Who could argue when this smiling, paragon of professionalism was standing there in your field of vision? Who could do anything but their best when James was watching? As if by his vision, everyone became better thanks to him. Like with many others, it was a privilege to work beside James Jones, MD. He is missed profoundly.

Utterly shocked to hear this. He was one of the most down to earth physicians I had the honor to work with. He was also one of the funniest doctors I have worked with. But most of all, he was a honest and caring physician. He was the epitome of what patients call a "good doctor." Dr. Jones was always innovative and rapidly moving up the ranks of medicine and health care. I am deeply saddened to know that his life and career was cut short. My deepest condolences to his loved ones.

No words can describe what a literal life force that our beloved Dr. Jones was to all. He was friend and helpmate to all in need. If a call to arms were to go out he was the first to volunteer. He has continued to help me and we don't even work together any longer, that is how selfless a man he was. I have tons of funny messages that I will keep on my phone because I know if a day comes that I am feeling down that all I have to do is read a few of his texts and there will be an immediate smile on my face. At MSSL and MSW anytime we knew Dr. James Jones was Administrator on Call, all would immediately be relieved for that is the sense of security he generated among his colleagues and friends. Will will never forget you, Dr. Jones! Love and prayers to your beloved wife and little son along with Mom, Dad, your sister and her family. There is no doubt that there will be a void where he once was. Maybe that is why he lived life so fully, for he was only meant for us for a short while <3

James has been an inspiration and some one I always looked up to long after leaving St.Lukes Roosevelt. He will be remembered as the best chief resident the program ever had, among many other things. It seems almost impossible that a man with such zest for life is no more.
Deepest sympathies to his family.

An indescribable tragedy for your family and unspeakable loss for the entire medical community. At the heart of his work were his patients, and he healed so many over the course of his career. Beyond this, he was a leader who captained us through many rocky waters during a time of transition as we moved forward with a complex systems merger in an era of rapidly evolving medical informatics. He was also a gifted teacher, and trained many of us as young physicians and surgeons. May our work serve as a legacy to his memory

As an unabashed practitioner of intelligent intuitive medicine his direction and vision for the future of MSW was second to none. Indeed, it was an honor to meet this great healer intent on alleviating the suffering of the human condition. We shall all miss him.
