JAMES PECK Obituary

PECK--James Mathew. James Mathew Peck, of New York City and Sag Harbor, NY, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2023. James, fondly known as Jim or Jimmy, was born on May 27, 1943 in New York City and is survived by his loving wife, Ada Samuelsson, daughter, Serena M. Peck, son-in-law, Martin A. Torres and grandsons Griffin A. Torres and Gates M. Torres of New York. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Rheta Peck and Dr. Samuel M. Peck of New York. A true New Yorker and Yankees fan, Jim was a graduate of Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan and went on to earn his Bachelor's degree from Boston University, and his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School. Jim was admitted to the New York Bar Association in 1969 and practiced law for over 40 years. Much of his legal career focused on real estate matters in New York City. He worked in the capacity of industry lobbyist in Albany and held roles with the New York City Community Housing Improvement Program. Prior to establishing his own firm, Jim was affiliated with the law firm of Saxe, Bacon and Bolan in New York City. Aside from his love of golf and baseball, Jim had a passion for the theatre and served in angel investor and producer capacities for the Broadway and West End productions of Chess, Children of Eden, My One and Only, Leader of the Pack as well as a number of Off Broadway productions which included amongst others, The Common Pursuit.

I always liked Jim Peck. I found him easy to talk to. At school parent gatherings, I was always glad to see him.
