JAN KRUKOWSKI Obituary

KRUKOWSKI--Jan. Jan Krukowski died at home in New York City on 28 October 2025, age 94. He was born 18 November 1930 to Alicja Krukowska (nee Landau) and Edward Krukowski, a lawyer, in Lodz, Poland. A man of intellect, passion and humor, he was haunted by the scars of his war experiences as a child of nine. The family arrived in the U.S. in June 1941. Jan spent the rest of his life in New York, a city he loved though he never lost his affection for European culture, manners and food. He attended Lincoln School where he met his future wife, Nancy Harrow. They celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary this past July. He earned a BA and MA in political philosophy from NYU. He established his own consulting company, Jan Krukowski Associates, crafting mission statements and capital campaigns for an illustrious list of universities, museums, hospitals and arts organizations until his retirement in 2010. Survived by his wife, jazz vocalist and composer Nancy Harrow; sons Damon and Anton; daughters-in-law Naomi Yang and Inga Davis; Anton and Inga's children Abraham Davis Frankfurter, Eva Krukowski and Zosia Davis Krukowski. Also survived by cousins Daniele Le Gendre of Martinique, and her daughters Dominique and Cathy; Diane and Christine Kenyon of Canada; nephews Michael, Richard and Bill Harrow, sister-in-law Irene Harrow, nieces Emily and Susan Harrow.
