JANE BENENSON Obituary

BENENSON--Jane Stein (nee Garcy), widow of Charles B. Benenson, mother of Cathy Ives, grandmother of Galen McCown and Sion McCormick, stepmother of Lawrence, Billy and Freddy, aunt of Maggie Bruck and Nancy Bruck. Died peacefully in her North Hills, Long Island home on December 30, aged 94. Jane was a vibrant, engaging, strong willed and admirably opinionated woman. A great golfer, she was club champion at numerous golf clubs especially Sands Point Golf Club, her home course, where she won many times. Jane was very involved in the Women's Metropolitan Golf Association and cherished the camaraderie of her team matches. A private graveside service and a memorial will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her memory to her beloved Metropolitan Opera at Support The Met Broadcasts, Lincoln Center, New York, NY 10023 or to the Caddie Scholarship Fund Sand Point Golf Club, 130 Middleneck Rd Sands Point, NY 11050.
