ms.knight was the best
she had faith in all of us,
whether help or not she knew she could count on us!
now that ms.knight is not physically here,
we know deep in our hearts she will always be right there.

If there is one thing that I will always remember about Ms. Knight, it is how she was always there for her staff when we needed her. Whenever I went to her with a problem or question over the past ten years, she always took the time to help, no matter how busy she seemed to be. Thank you, Ms. Knight, for always being there. I will miss you.

Janice,
I first met you on your very first day at PS 235.We were colleagues,teaching SOAR Prekindergarten,under very difficult conditions.I still remember your enthusiasm and creativity as a teacher.Your classroom was always a show place.You went on to become Principal, while I became UFT Chapter Leader.After I retired, I was saddened when I heard of your illness.You remained in my thoughts and prayers since that time and remain there still. Rest in peace, Janice.

"It is healthy and honorable to weep at the loss of someone we love.
Healthy because such passion must be released.
Honorable because it is respectful to admit the importance of people who have loved and supported us...people whose footprints cannot ever be matched." -Maya Angelou
Janice, your vision inspired me, your respect and support empowered me. You were my mentor, my colleague, my friend. You will always be in my heart.
To the Knight Family-may you find solace in the words of Maya Angelou..."people whose footsteps can never be matched".

My Interpretation of "Janice's Workshop Model"...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I thank the Lord for allowing me to serve the PS 235 school community under the leadership of Janice Knight!!! The fact that so many members of her staff were on a first-name basis with her, while maintaining the highest respect for her, speaks volumes! As a new principal, she picked up the baton and ran with the legacy of excellence passed to her by Dr. Levine. Therefore, we had a smooth, mid-year transition, and we missed not a beat pressing onward to even greater things. What a blessing that was! Smooth is one of the memorable things I'll hold dear about what Janice modeled. Examples of unconditional love, and acceptance of others is another. I've had the divine opportunity to interact with a woman who wasn't afraid to be. It will inspire me to continue to do the same! God bless the memory and legacy of Janice Marie Knight, as well as her beautiful family. We truly saw where her poise emanated from through the family's strength, resolve, and reflection of the light of Jesus!!! May He continue to bless and keep them...
Janice was the finest teacher I have ever known. Janice knew how to inspire you to do your best. As her student teacher more than twenty years ago, I was fortunate to witness firsthand what it really means to be a great teacher. As principal, Janice led by example. She had a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence.
It has been my privilege to have known her.
Janice, you will be missed greatly. From the day I stepped into your school, as a prospective employee, you made me feel very comfortable and as one of your secretaries I was more comfortable. You were an amazing leader and most importantly a more amazing person. You will be with us at P.S. 235 forever. And to the Knight family I send my deepest condolences you as you try and cope with the loss of Janice.
Ms. Knight was more than an employer, she was a dear friend. I was always impressed with the way in which she always knew what to say and when to say it. She was a very wise woman. I will do my best to continue to do the work she intended for all of us to do for the children of P.S. 235.
Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
