JAY MAZUR Obituary

MAZUR--Jay. Jay Mazur passed away peacefully at his home in NYC with his wife, Connie, by his side. She was his soulmate and best friend. Jay was an esteemed labor leader, but he was also the Patriarch of an adoring family. Jay was a loving husband to Connie; a devoted father to Marc and Ilana; much-loved grandfather to William, Jamie, Alison, and Matthew; and great-grandfather to Olivia, Atlas, and Wyatt. He was also survived by his sister Bobbie and brother Bernard. Beyond family, Jay was a mentor, adviser, and problem solver for anyone who was lucky enough to have been introduced into his orbit. Jay loved people, and connected with everyone whether a head of state or someone on the street. In return, those people were grateful for his guidance and care. He was highly respected both personally and professionally. Outside of his dedication to bettering the lives of working people, Jay had a wide array of pursuits: reading, physical fitness, classical music, politics, sports, and philosophy. Jay was passionate about a number of philanthropic causes, including serving on the board of the National Holocaust Museum. Jay and Connie donated their time and resources to animal causes, traveled the world, loved great food, and adored their Abyssinian cats. Mazur family
