JEAN-CLAUDE ZIEGLER Obituary

ZIEGLER--Jean-Claude,

68. A graduate of Linsly Military Institute '64 and Georgetown University '68, he had a long career as an executive at Y&R. He is survived by his mother, Simone Ziegler, his sister Anne-Marie Ziegler and his niece Anne-Nicole Hanus. He was a man of great character beloved by friends for his caring nature, intellect and unique charm. A consummate New Yorker, he also maintained strong family ties to France. His casual cosmopolitan spirit brightened his every conversation, with a Gallic temper held in reserve for the deserving few. A passionate collector of beautiful historical objects his presence in those circles will be deeply missed. He served as secretary to the Art Glass Forum/New York and was a member and frequent visitor to the Metropolitan Museum, Carnegie Hall and the Metropolitan Opera. As a generous advocate for the less fortunate and animal rights we suggest donations to the Humane Society of the United States or Friends of the High Line, in lieu of flowers. Memorial service at "The Riverside" on Amsterdam Ave. and 76th St., on June 10th at 3pm with a reception following (RSVP) and burial in Westport on the 11th.

IF I HAD BEEN BLESSED WITH HAVING HAD A BROTHER (WHICH I DIDN'T), JOHN-CLAUDE WOULD HAVE BEEN ... TOP OF THE LIST.
JC, AS I CALLED HIM, WAS UNIQUE. WHEN ONE USES THE PHRASE, 'I LOVE YOU' VS.
'I'M 'IN' LOVE WITH YOU' ... MY REALITY WAS OF THE FIRST ... USAGE.
ONE COULD 'SET' ONES WATCH, AS TO THE TIME OF HIS ARRIVAL OF A GIVEN DATE.
HE WOULD EVEN WAIT OUTSIDE ONES APT. AND RING THE BELL, *** EXACTLY ***
AT THE STROKE OF THE GIVEN TIME.
HE ALWAYS HAD SOME SORT OF 'READING' MATERIAL (BOOK, MAGAZINE, PAPER) WITH
HIM. HIS LOVE OF HIS CATS ... GOES BEYOND DESCRIPTION.
THE MERE MENTION OF HIS NAME, THE 'MEMORIES' - SIMPLY FLOOD MY BRAIN.
TRULY, IN THE FULLEST OF UNDERSTANDING ... A GENTLE SOUL.
AS LONG AS THERE IS BREATH IN THIS 'VINTAGE' BODY, YOUR SPIRIT /MEMORY ... LIVES!
LOVE ALWAYS, TOM.

I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of dear, brilliant, witty, opera-loving Jean-Claude. I have fond memories of him in Ogunquit, Maine, enjoying the beach.

My deepest regrets to his family. JC was a good friend -- gracious, witty, and caring. He left us too soon. I will miss him. Barbara Willis
