JEAN-PIERRE RADLEY Obituary

RADLEY--Jean-Pierre,

computer consultant and former president of Pauline Trigere, Inc. died of natural causes on December 3rd in Savannah, Georgia. He was 85. JP was born in Neuilly en Seine (France) 1932 but arrived in New York with his parents Pauline and Lazar, and brother Philippe in December 1936 to escape the political turmoil of Europe. He attended the Lycee Francais then MIT at 16 where he received degrees in Electrical Engineering and Masters of Business Administration. Immediately recruited, he worked for the Management Team of the Air Force Cambridge Research Lab in Bedford, MA. 1960s New York included Trigere, Inc., and Max's Kansas City Restaurant. He returned to Trigere in 1971 and was president for 25 years. A constant presence on 7th Avenue yet his heart remained in technology. Finally he concentrated on computer consulting, his true passion and expertise. He married in 1973 and inherited two stepdaughters and then again in 2002 to a lifelong friend Jane Tucker. They were married for 15 years but had a 46 year bond. JP leaves behind his wife, Jane, stepdaughter Jennifer (Andrew), granddaughters Katherine and Payton, sister-in-law Melanie (the late Philippe), niece Karen and cousin Jane. JP will forever be remembered for his witty sense of humor, his love of classical music, extensive art collection and his genius with computers. For some years I played folkmusic with Jean Pierre in Cambridge Mass with a group called Elsa Shore's international folksingers. He sang in french, including "Le Cheval dans le Bainoir"; He was at MIT, I was at Harvard

Sad to hear so belatedly of the passing of a kind and generous soul with razor wit and broad good-natured humor. I first knew his as a sysadmin of a SCO Unix forum on Compuserve. I learned much from him and he shared his knowledge without reserve. We met several times at SCO Forums over the years. In 2006 at a SCO product launch event he invited me to his home in NYC and I met his lovely wife, Jane and we went out to dinner together and had a wonderful time. NYC was such a lovely place then and dining there with lovely people is a treasured memory. RIP, JP. You did good. Now go and enjoy /dev/eternity.

All I can say is thank you for the many times you helped me berth my interest with Unix and then Linux. Thank you for your steadfast kindness in helping a beginner like me.

So saddened to hear about the passing of JP, the last of a legendary family for whom I modeled for many years. I frequently saw him in the neighborhood in NY and the last time I saw him, he was sitting peacefully in his favorite garden. A gentle giant, RIP

I knew JP for many years in the 90s and looked forward to seeing him at SCO Forum every summer. He was one of many people who helped me to get my software company off the ground in 1995 and although I haven't seen him in at least 15 years, I'm saddened by the loss of such a wonderful man and amazed by so many things that I've just learned by reading his obituary. Condolences to Jane and all who were lucky enough to have known him.

Dear Jane, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband, JP, who I will always remember from my modelling for his mother, Pauline Trigere. He had such a great sense of humor. His picture brings back such great memories. You and your family are in my prayers.

I never met JP in person, but we had a long friendship and professional relationship starting back in the days of the Compuserve SCOForum. JP helped me out many times with my computer systems, but over time I came to think of him as my friend beyond our professional relationship. I will miss him greatly both personally and professionally.
