On August 28, 1986 Jeffrey wrote a letter to the Court requesting dismissal of a case I was involved in as a minor player. For almost 3 decades I have kept that letter in my top drawer and often have gone to it to "borrow" quotes and arguments that I was never capable of formulating on my own. His signature was more calligraphy than penmanship. I did that again today and It caused me to see if Jeffrey was still practicing -- my intention was to send this email to him with these comments. I was sorry to see he had passed and my condolences to his family. Ironically, I was pleased to see he was a "Hoosier" as my son just graduated from Indiana.

He clearly had a life well lived and if a family member would like to see the letter please contact me at [email protected]

You are not dead.
As a matter of fact nobody ever dies.
You want to know why?
Because you're going to live inside everybody
who ever knew you, everyone you ever touched no matter how little.
And the people who love you-
Your wife, your family-
your sons, your daughters,
your brothers, sisters,
your grandkids-
they're never going to stop
thinking about you.
Or talking about you.
They're never going to forget you
cause that never goes away.
You're never going to die
cause you were loved.
Because you loved.
You're going to live forever.
We all will."

He looks like you

I was a very young girl when I visited Jeffery and his brother in Schenectady NY. I remember Jeffery visiting my parents home in NJ a few times after that. I am sorry for your loss and sorry too that our families did not stay in touch. My fondest memory is of Jeffery is his sitting in our house smoking a pipe and sporting a small beard. I remember calling him "Dignified Daddy-O" as a term of endearment.
I know that he will be written in the book of life.

I remember Jeff Very fondly from Rutgers Law School c.1964-1966 when I graduated.
I always welcomed talking to him on the infrequent the infrequent occasions when we would encounter one another in Court or at some function or another.
He was a very unique and distinctive person who I will always remember with fondness and affection.

Jeffrey and his family are my wintertime neighbors and we became fast friends he was a wonderful man with a smile that lite the world. I will forever see him with his famed cowboy hat that he loved to wear walking his two dogs in the warm Arizona sun admiring the beauty of the day . Today as I look at the sun and the beautiful Arizona surroundings that Jeffrey so loved much I will think of him and know that part of the beautiful sunlight is his smile shining down on all that loved him.

Thank you Cahn's for embracing me into your life and giving me the pleasure to know you and to call you friends. I pray for you all to find comfort and peace knowing he is now happy and well with God.

April 2, 2013

My condolences to the Cahn family. May memories of times spent with Jeffrey warm your hearts. Lean on God for comfort and the hope he gives of seeing our passed loved ones again.
