JEFFREY KAPLAN Obituary

KAPLAN--Jeffrey Michael, passed peacefully on July 21, 2022 in Washington, DC at age 71. He was the son of Rhoda Yucht Kaplan and Dr. Melvin and Elaine Kaplan. Born on an Army base in Oklahoma and raised in Massapequa, NY, he made his permanent home in Washington. Jeffrey was an art history and english major at Michigan who continued his studies at Yale Law School. He lived a full and exceptional life surrounded by his curated art collection, his books, his culinary expertise, his theater and music, and his many friends whom he kept close with his entire life. Jeff's youngest brother, Lee, predeceased him by three weeks. He is survived by his brother Neal (Nancy); nephew Mark (Lindsay); nieces Tracey (Brian) and Jackie (Luca); as well as great-nieces, Emmy, Sawyer, and Parker, and his great- nephews, Reid and Sebastian. He is also survived by his dearest friend, Jennifer Brown, who cared for him with great compassion. There will be a private memorial service in September for both brothers. A warm-hearted, intelligent man, Jeff possessed a wonderful sense of humor and was a highly sophisticated connoisseur of great art from every culture. He was one-of-a-kind and will be missed.
