JEFFREY KROESSLER Obituary

KROESSLER--Jeffrey. The sudden death of Jeffrey Kroessler leaves many good causes bereft. As a librarian and scholar he was a guide to inquiring young minds at John Jay, and in his writing and incisive editorials he inspired the rest of us. He was stalwart in preservation battles at the Historic Districts Council and Municipal Art Society, and a shameless and convincing advocate for the treasures and virtues of Queens, especially his beloved and incomparable Sunnyside Gardens. He will be missed especially by his colleagues at the revived City Club, presiding with grace and good humor. Jeffrey was a true son of the city, youthful, open, serious, now slipping away, it's clear he was the real thing, a City Father. The City Club of New York

Deepest sorrow on the passing of our esteemed colleague. But gratitude for the life he shared with all of us at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Condolences to those who knew and cherished him.

He wrote a really good article: Brooklyn´s Thirst, Long Island´s Water, and gave an interesting talk on this subject to the Valley Stream Historical Society last fall.
