JEROME BLOCK Obituary

BLOCK--Dr. Jerome, 90, passed away peacefully at home of cancer on December 18, surrounded by his immediate family. Husband of Tazuko, his great love for 58 years. Wonderful father to Jon (Clare) and Jennifer (Eric), adored and doting grandfather to Lydia and Anais and special uncle, great-uncle and great-great-uncle to the Covey family and the Leifer family. Cherished friend and father figure to Harumi Sainohira. Dr. Block graduated from Dartmouth College and Harvard Medical School before serving in the United States Navy. He enjoyed a long career as a neurologist in New York City, for decades as the Chief of Neurology at Lenox Hill Hospital. He lived a healthy and vigorous life and is remembered as a compassionate physician and teacher, who loved being a doctor and cared deeply for his patients. He was an enthusiastic fisherman loyal to his buddies on the party boats he frequented. To his friends, colleagues and family he was warm, witty, loyal, wise and always of good cheer. A pleasure to be with, his memory is cherished.

Dr Block treated me as a patient, for many years and will to this day, remain the best human being and doctor that I ever had and more than likely ever will.

I only found out about his passing a week or so ago.

My condolences to his entire family

Jerry was one of the first clients to treat me as his lawyer when I was just a few years out of school. We lost touch many years ago but I remember him vividly and was very sad at hearing of his death.
