JOAN AMRON

1931 - 2022

AMRON--Joan. Joan Amron passed away peacefully on December 23, 2022 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Howard Amron, mother of Arthur, Alison and Susan, mother-in-law of Sara Pearl and Mary Ellen Manning, grandmother of Zachary and Adam, big sister to Elaine Abelson and sister-in-law to Hirschel Abelson. Joan was cared for with love by Sonia Witter and Carole Martin. Born in Lawrence, New York to Jacob and Mae Goldberg in 1931, Joan graduated from Lawrence High School in 1948 and Smith College in 1952. While raising her three children, Joan put her artistic talent to work in a successful greeting card company, JG Originals. She went back to school and earned her Masters in Education from Teachers College in 1975. Joan was a groundbreaker in the field of children with learning disabilities, working in private practice as well as at Manhattan Country School. She was a board member of Goddard Riverside Community Center and served for many years as co- chair of their highly successful 'Musical Evenings.' An enthusiastic traveler with her family, a lover of the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society and the Philharmonic, Joan was always out enjoying the best that New York City had to offer. In memory of her love of fine wine and French champagne, we ask her friends to drink a toast to Joan's life. Services: Frank E. Campbell, 1076 Madison Avenue, NY, NY 10028, Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 11am. Shiva will be that evening at 6pm-9:00pm at Joan's home.
