JOHN BAUMANN Obituary

BAUMANN--John R., 84 years of age, died on November 3, 2021 at his home in Manhattan. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late James F. Baumann and Anne Bartlett Baumann. A graduate of St. Francis Preparatory School and St. John's University, his career in finance at IBM spanned over 30 years. During that time, he and Jean traveled extensively and lived in New York, New Jersey, Florida, Connecticut and California; as well as Paris and Tokyo. Upon retirement they returned to live in New York City. John was a very talented artist and produced many beautiful paintings in both oil and acrylic. He especially enjoyed recreating scenes of French and Italian landscapes evoking memories of travels throughout Europe. He was a member of the New York Athletic Club for many years where he enjoyed swimming and playing squash. John was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Jean Reardon Baumann, in May of this year and by his sister Anne Baumann Lynch - also in May of this year. He is survived by his brother James Baumann and his sister Laurie Baumann Toeplitz, her husband Richard and their sons, his Godson William and his wife Alicia and Christopher and his wife Christine. He is also survived by his nephew Douglas Lynch and his wife Kathleen, and his sister-in-law Ann Reardon Murphy as well as many nieces, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 9am, Saturday, November 13, 2021 at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 980 Park Avenue, NY. Mr. Baumann's cremains will be laid to rest alongside his loving wife, Jean at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. Services under the direction of Frank E. Campbell.
