JOHN CALICCHIO

CALICCHIO--John, 85, a lifetime resident of New York passed away peacefully on December 11. He is survived by his loving children Lisa and Thomas and his wife, Denise and his ex-wife Millicent. He was a devoted grandfather to Tate, Quinn, Steven Paolo, Amanda, John, Axel, and Oriana and a greatgrandfather to William, James, and Marcus. He met his great grandchildren for the first time prior to passing, and it gave him great happiness. John was fiercely devoted to providing for his family. He was a self-made man who developed many successful businesses during his career perhaps crowned by his great love for the dry bulk shipping business. His charitable endeavors were varied and impactful particularly his work as a board member for the Children's Blood Foundation and the Guggenheim Foundation and his priority would always go back to family. He was never happier then when family gatherings were large, particularly for Sunday night dinner or a family vacation surrounded by his children, their spouses, and his grandchildren. John was a humble man who would never tout his many accomplishments. He had a gift for making those who knew him feel warm and welcome in his presence. He was blessed with tremendous capacity for work, family and friends. John loved listening to Frank Sinatra and he was an accomplished Gin Rummy player, two simple pleasures which gave him great joy. The simple things were his happiness. He left us with a legacy of kindness, love and a life well lived. He will be missed more than words can express. May he rest in peace with his late son, Steven, by his side. Your loving family. Visitation for John Calicchio will be held Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Frank E. Campbell - The Funeral Chapel, 1076 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10028. A visitation will occur Monday, December 13, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 1076 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10028. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Frank E. Campbell, The Funeral Chapel 1076 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10028.
