Hi Lynn, I just heard of the very sad news of John's passing this afternoon. I am so very sorry. Linda and I just returned from California for the season. I dropped by a few minutes, ago to give you a big hug, but nobody home. I will never forget the 20 years or so, commuting the Needham train with John and hearing about his Shawmut and Mt. Kisco/Bedford, N.Y. stories. I think we were two of the only New Yorkers on the train. He was such a good man. Please walk into our house, any time, if the lights are on. The door is always open. Our former Dover wine cellar has a long way to go in this little Cottage St. house of ours. See you soon, Michael

We will never see a pheasant and not think of our friend John (and of the several wonderful pheasant dinners we shared together!). Always a warm smile and a hug--his life, light and love live on in his beautiful Lynn and family. Rest in peace.

I thank you all for such lovely words and memories of John. We have been overcome by all the wonderful sentiments and hearing from many old friends in far-flung places. John would be (and I suspect is) surprised how many lives he touched. Thank you for being a part of his and my journey.

Life is good. Hugs to all, Lynn

Dad. I miss you so so much. I just wanted to be able to type something to you.
Know dad, thst Addy scored a hat trick today in lacrosse, Grady is still peeing on my truck tires, and Andrea just took two more jobs at the Warren School. I know you're so, so proud of all of us.

We saw the notice in the NYT May 7 Sunday edition and are greatly saddened by the news. John was a wonderful human being, demonstrating sound personal values and always open with his thoughts. He was devoted to his family, especially his faithful wife, Lynn. We send our prayers and condolences to the family

I rowed with John for four years on the lightweight crew. While we spent most of our time rowing you get to know someone pretty well especially, when the chips are down. It is no surprise to me that he was able to fight off prostate cancer for many years. He was a very good guy but you may rest assured that he was a fighter. He had spine and courage and always went about his business with drive and devotion. Everyone of us liked and respected hime even when he got a little flinty. We didn't mind at all, since we had our flinty moments too. He demonstrated to all a desire to succeed and generosity of spirit. He, also, handled an oar well.

Lynn,
I was sorry to learn (from Rob Lawrence) on Friday that John had died. I had heard some time ago that he had been ill , but seems as though a long time had passed between then and now.
I worked on your house in Dover a few years ago and i will always remember John and his encouraging words about my career choice as a carpenter. I shared with him that i sometimes questioned my decision , having finished college etc, and the stereotypes that are associated with the trades. He was very candid (and i mean candid) offering me some very encouraging advice , not to worry about what people thought etc. I will always be grateful for his advice.
He was always (as you were too) friendly and welcoming every morning and a pleasure to work for.
We never did get another dog , and have moved to a rental property so unfortunately a dog is not in our near future.
Take care and God Bless John

To the family and friends of Mr. John G. Petrasch. I'm so very sorry for the loss of your loved one, but know that you can depend on God always. I've found these verses to be of comfort at Psalms the 62nd chapter the 7th and 8th verse.

I extend my condolences to Lynn and to John's family. I knew John back in the 70s. His sense of humor was dry and funny, and his kindness was memorable. He was a lovely person. May he rest in peace.
