JOHN RODGERS

RODGERS--John Salant, passed away peacefully at home on October 12, 2025 at the graceful age of 96. Born June 16, 1929 to Ethel Salant Rodgers and Dr. Mortimer Rodgers, brother of composer Richard Rodgers. John was the consummate New York gentleman with a twinkle in his eye, a pun in his pocket, and a song in his heart. He graduated Harvard College and Harvard Law School and served in U.S. Naval Intelligence, stationed for three years in Wadi Sabu, Morocco. John was Chairman of the Board of the Salant Corporation and later of Metropolitan College of New York. In 1982, he married Janet Kaplan and they shared a wonderful life of adventure travel, music (especially opera), and loyal friendships. John was a generous host and up-for-anything!
