JOHN WHITNEY Obituary

WHITNEY--John. The Board of Overseers of Columbia Business School expresses deep sorrow at the passing of John Whitney, professor emeritus in the Management Division of Columbia Business School. For more than 18 years, Professor Whitney taught hundreds of students in leadership and turnaround management, and his first book became a hallmark in turnaround business for both students and the corporate world. He was a successful entrepreneur and a beloved teacher, earning several awards for his contributions both in academia and in business. Columbia Business School extends its profound sympathy to the Whitney family. Glenn Hubbard, Dean, Columbia Business School

There are very few people who stand out in one's life. Few or none however have John Whitney's sensitivity, brillance, grace, and reasoning power all wrapped up in a home spun nature. I was priviledged to have spent many hours with this extraordinary genius and role model for many who had their live enriched. I am blessed for having John enrich my life as well.
