I only just saw Joe's obit. We roomed together for a while in Ann Arbor and for a short time in NYC and then lost touch. Joe, you were larger than life and even tho it has been a lot of years since I last saw you it is hard to imagine you moving on.

Dear Joe - what a wonderful, warm, kind-hearted friend he was to Mel and I when we were in NYC in the 70s. We got so close working on Peter Cooper's house together in PA. I remember his sadness over the death of 'Tyrone' a little black kitten we brought back to the city. And I'll always remember his huge laughter and bear-like hugs. A wonderful guy.

Joe was a wonderful and kind man. I am very, very sad that he is gone. But even now I can't think of him without remembering the happiness he always gave to his friends - his smile was so joyful and his energy so inspiring. This was a great gift to be able to give to others.

I'm so sad to hear that Joe has died. He was so so wonderful to me and Mike on our visit to the states in the early 70s. He looked after us, made us laugh, made us feel welcome and cared for. He was such a warm, loving guy and a very special friend. I'll never forget him and my heart aches that he is gone.

I want to say something that matters. I want to stop feeling sad and even sometimes angry or just confused because isn't even pain better than nothing? I want to stop waking up at all hours with these crazy dreams which, yes Joe, sometimes have me laughing out loud at all the ways you turned life upside down.
You are so missed.
