JOSEPH DONNER

DONNER--Joseph W., Jr. Joseph W. Donner, Jr. passed away in New York City on Thursday, July 13, 2023. Born on January 23, 1927, in Buffalo, NY, he was the grandson of industrialist and philanthropist William H. Donner, founder of Donner Steel. Joe graduated from St. Paul's School and served in the U.S. Navy before entering Princeton University, where he was a founding member of the Tigertones acapella group. In the 1950s, Joe joined the U.S. Foreign Service, stationed in Athens, Greece. Upon returning to New York, he worked on Wall Street for two decades, then in retirement, received a Ph.D. in British history at Columbia University. A founding member of National Review, Joe also served on the boards of the William H. Donner and Donner Canadian Foundations. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Pamela Cushing Donner, his sons Alex, Tim, Joe, and three grandchildren, William, T.J. and Brielle.
