I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Professor Koffler. He was a great man, and one of my favorite teachers, ever. Though my class was the last torts class he taught and his body was ravaged by disease, his brilliance still shone through. Of all the classes I took in law school, I'll remember his most. On the occassion of his having taught at the school for 50 years, our class decided to get him some special presents. I can still see him with his Mets hat on, sitting in front of the class. My condolences go out to the family.

I vividly remember Professor Koffler from my first day of law school. He was tough on his students, forcing them to excel. But deep down there was a kind hearted man who wanted the best for them. He had a wonderful sense of humor and will always be remembered by the many he touched.

It was with profound sadness that I learned of the passing of Professor Joseph H. Koffler. As a former student, I remember his lessons as much about life as the law.
