Joseph A. Mauriello was my mentor, teacher, and a role model. More than that he was a wonderful human being -- kind and caring. we would share dinner together at Horn & Hardhart before class. He was a multifaceted professional both inside the classroom and outside in the practical world. He had a wealth of knowledge of both accounting and taxation and he knew how to teach and make his classes interesting. He was so good that after obtaining my degrees my sister was a student of his, as well, and also learned from his wisdom. He arranged for me to obtain my first position with Arthur Andersen & Co. Through the years I continued to solicit his advice and guidance. He had my deepest respect and affection. You have my sincere condolence. May his memory be of great comfort to you.

Dear Janet and Joe,
My sincerest condolences to you, his beloved grandchildren, your uncle Michael, and to all in the Mauriello family.
I have vivid memories of your Dad and Alba as devoted and generous parishioners of Our Lady Sorrows Church, South Orange, during the years (1981-1993) I served as pastor.

May abundant memories of your father as a faithful and loving spouse, a devoted and a loving dad, a hard working provider, and a caring patriarchal Mauriello family figure be a source of great comfort to you at this time and in the years ahead.
You have every reason to be proud of his distinguished and accomplished career and the professional recognitions that he received.
May you carry on the legacy of his spirit, his personal virtues, his professional dedication and competency, as a living testimony to his memory.

I am in Florida during these months of my retired years, and regret not to be able to be with you and to concelebrate his funeral mass. Be assured that I will be praying that he will find peace in the eternal embrace of our loving God.
