I'm deeply saddened to hear of Josh's passing. Like many have commented, he was both a friend and a band-mate. The picture I uploaded was taken during the early 2000's when he played bass in my band(I'm in white tee) and he was the musical director(by his decree..lol).
Also like many others have commented, Josh and I bonded on the The Beatles, Stones and many other influential artists/acts from that golden period of rock & prog rock(more Josh's thing for sure). We used to spend hours on the phone talking music, the happenings of the day and planning our next time in the studio.
I used to listen in amazement as he shared detailed accounts of the work he was doing on his bass..always re-painting those darn things..it was truly a passion of his.
I remember when we made a demo tape(across from the WTC of all things) that was needed for getting gigs. One of the songs chosen was No Matter What by Badfinger which had a lot of harmonies. I knew nothing about such things. Josh took over the session for us and got us through it. I remember how impressed I was..damn, I got a great bass player :-)
I also have fond memories of his offbeat sense of humor and his penchant for doing impersonations..He did each Beatle particularly well..especially Lennon & Harrison.
I feel like I lost a musical soul mate but at the same time am grateful to be left with unforgettable memories of our times together...RIP Josh

I was deeply saddened to learn of Josh’s recent passing. He and I were bass contemporaries on the local NYC music scene during the mid-70’s. Back then, for a short time, it seemed like we were replacing each other in certain bands. I first met Josh when guitarist John Zaff and I were looking for a drummer with which to form a band. John and I shlepped up to an attic in a brownstone on West 87th Street, where we met a lad several years our junior playing on a cobbled together drum kit. Though he didn’t make the audition, little did we know that several years hence this lad would come out from behind the kit and become an absolute powerhouse rock bassist. Josh’s talent was immense, with an acumen on electric bass far beyond his years. And he could sing and play simultaneously, which is no small feat for a bassist. Nor did he choose to go for the simple material. Josh’s stock and trade back then was Progressive (Classical) Rock, the most challenging form of the rock genre (odd meters, key changes, temp changes). He learned his lessons from the Prog bass masters - the late Messrs. Wetton, Lake and Squire – and he learned them quite well. Few, if any, of his local contemporaries on bass demonstrated the aptitude Josh exhibited at that time. He was very special.
Those of us who knew Josh back in the day know that the NYC music scene has lost one of its most accomplished performers. My deepest sympathies go out to his family, his friends and all of his music colleagues. May Josh’s memory always be a blessing and may he rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear this news. It's just unbelievable. Josh was so engaged in his music, he had plans. We used to meet and play George Harrison songs and more (last year) , he was so talented and feeling. My deepest condolences to his family.

I will always remember josh as my brother
A man and, when he was young a boy who loved his family, loved music, loved to laugh and loved to have fun with words and expressions to tell a story
Since the day Josh died I have been listening to Beatles. Moody blues, king crimson and thinking to myself how much I miss him and his sense of music
Josh I have and always will love you my brother and only think of you with happiness in my soul

As Josh himself would have said, 'so strange...' As a friend and former schoolmate at M&A High School, I know Josh will be missed by many. My heart and condolences go out to Dr. Claire M. and Charlie, having suffered two huge losses in such a short span of time.
